Project cleaning & maintenance
Since the supercharger of the supercharged miata was leaking oil, it was time for project cleaning and maintenance.
The supercharger was leaking oil, and it somehow made it's way to the inlet. Results was an engine which was not running very smooth... so while solving this problem, i decided to start with the cleaning and changed all the belts including timing belt.
Before i started this is what she looked like.. Very dirty!!
After the first clean, changing all the belts and making a new seal for the supercharger she looked like this
Unfortunately she would not start... hmmm
She would not start, so first thought was bad ignition. But after consulting the local mazda dealer, i went to look at timing again. So everything went apart again.
Timng was 3 settings off... Supercharger was still leaking, so took that apart again ashwell. Found some good websites with tips and parts for the Kenne Bell supercharger. ( jonbondperformance.com and foxbodychallenge.com ). So seal i made went to the bin, and used red hig temperature silicone sealing.
Since the supercharger comes form a miata with front damage, one of the mounting points is broken. Until now it was mounted with only 2 bolts. So i decided to fix that while i am at it. So drilled a new whole!
I adjusted the self made bracket. Supercharger now is attached with 3 bolts, and sits like a rock!
This bolt was also loose. So put a new thread which was also deeper and put a new bolt.
My ghetto tool for keeping the tensioner up, so i could mount the belt.
here is the final result of the first part of the cleaning. Still have to do a lot, but it needed to drive again. (daily drive)
Oil leakage is solved. Only problem i have is the Fake HKS SSQV 3 BOV. It stays open during idle, which releases the supercharger noise. And damn that is loud!
So ordered a new FORGE motorsport Blowoff valve. hope that solves my problem
Next step is spraying some parts black, so it will look much cleaner!
